The District of Columbia marked World AIDS Day 2003 by announcing
plans to install plain white condom dispensers in select government
offices and begin distributing the contraceptives for free. The goal
is to place more than 50 dispensers in offices frequented by the public,
including the D.C. Housing Authority and the departments of human services,
motor vehicles and public works, among others.
An American surgeon who has patented a device that triggers
an orgasm has begun a clinical trial approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
So far only one woman has completed the first stage of the trial, and
a second has agreed to take part. Volunteers will have electrodes inserted
in their spine and be connected to a pacemaker-size machine implanted
under the skin to heighten their sexual pleasure.
Teens are more interested in finding out about sexual relationships,
such as pain after intercourse and pregnancy, than about contraception
and protecting themselves from sexually transmitted infections, a new
study suggests. The results are based on a review of questions submitted
by visitors to www.teenwire.com, a Planned Parenthood Web site on teenaged
sexuality and sexual health.
The female condom has proved a hit with sex workers in Cambodia
since its introduction by a non-government organization as part of its
battle against HIV/AIDS last year, according to a report. Population
Services International's HIV/AIDS program reportedly began distributing
the condoms -- the only female-initiated barrier method to prevent sexually
transmitted diseases -- after it found drunk male clients were refusing
to wear condoms despite request from sex workers.
This year's "Miss Condom Asia-Pacific " title went to
20-year-old Thai bar girl who was crowned amid shouts and screams from
her co-workers. Featuring 20 contestants from four different nations,
the contest aims to promote safe sex in Thailand. "Miss Condom"
competitors wowed the judges with their condom-blowing prowess and knowledge
about the virus, which has infected over seven million people across
the region.
For every 35 pounds of weight a man carries over his ideal weight,
his penis will appear to be one inch smaller.
